Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health problem with a dismal prognosis in pediatrics, with a significant impact in adulthood. Epidemiological data show between 55 and 60 diagnoses per million people under 18 years of age, with 1% of the entire population suffering from end-stage renal disease. It is characterized by the accumulation of uremic toxins, requiring urgent palliative treatment.
