Abstract

Vascular access management is a crucial pillar of renal replacement therapy, directly affecting the quality of life and survival of patients with chronic kidney disease. The articles in this section are highly significant in addressing, from various perspectives, the challenges and progress in this vital field within the Latin American context. From ensuring the safety of central venous catheterization using anatomical techniques in resource-limited settings to enhancing initial vascular access types for hemodialysis, including the effectiveness of advanced methods like drug-eluting balloon angioplasty to extend access longevity, and innovations in early diagnosis of venous complications through modified phlebotomography, these studies provide valuable insights to improve clinical practice, minimize complications, and ultimately optimize dialysis patient management.
