Arterial hypertension in patients with chronic kidney disease shows a paradoxical pattern compared to the general population. The best survival outcomes are seen in patients with systolic hypertension over 160 mmHg, while the highest mortality rates occur in those with pressures below 120 mmHg. These paradoxical findings may be linked to body composition, muscle mass index, and the ratio of effective circulating blood volume to muscle mass index. The original articles on hypertension from the conference are included.
